If their lips are moving …

… the Clintons are lying. Now it’s phony charges of voter intimidation and a repetition of the slander that Obama wavered on abortion.

So Bill Clinton is claiming that as he and Chelsea walked through a casino, workers were coming up to him saying that they were going to caucus for Hillary, and a Culinary Workers union rep was coming up behind to threaten the workers that if they weren’t going to vote for Obama they would be scheduled to work at caucus time.

First off, how plausible is this? Who would be stupid enought to make such a threat in the hearing of the former President? Second, the threat itself seems to be impossible to carry out, because workers didn’t need to go through the union to get time out to caucus. Third, wouldn’t you expect that if such threats were being made someone other than WJC would have noticed?

Meanwhile, the Clintonites are repeating their previous lie about Obama’s record on abortion: the lie that I think won the New Hampshire primary, where the dishonest flier was dropped over the last weekend, coinciding with HRC’s last-minute surge among women. (At he jump is the full text of an email from New York NOW, just received by a journalistic acquaintance.)

One of the benefits the Clinton camp got from playing the race card was to largely suppress any complaints against the dishonest flier attacking Obama on choice and about the lawsuit to disenfranchise casino workers. Any complaints the Obama camp made on those fronts got folded in to a general “squabbling among candidates” story, which undercuts Obama’s claim to be running a cleaner campaign.

The only way this backfires is if some reporters start to report on Clintonite mendacity as a story, without any “balance” designed to show that Obama is just as bad. But that wouldn’t be “objective,” would it?

[And it seems to have worked again: the exit polls have HRC winning Nevada by about 11 points. Well, I never claimed the Clinton machine wasn’t good at sleazoid politics.]

Update And now it’s anonymous robo-calls trashing “Barack Hussein Obama.” Of course you’ll never find the Clintons’ fingerprints on them.

Clinton vs Obama on Reproductive Choice! Know the Facts and then Vote on February 5th!

Who is Your Choice?

When it’s time for our next President to stand up for

Women’s Reproductive Choice;

Who do you think will make the difference?

Hillary Clinton:

Birth Control: Clinton co-sponsored the Prevention First legislation in the senate and has long advocated for strengthening access to contraception, identifying realistic solutions to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies, and improving access to women’s health care.

Emergency Contraception (EC): Clinton led the fight, along with Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) to force the Food and Drug Administration to allow emergency contraception to be sold in pharmacies without a doctor’s prescription, increasing its accessibility for emergency use. Senator Clinton also supported legislation to create, expand and fund teen pregnancy prevention programs and education programs that would include access to emergency contraceptives.

Abortion Procedures Ban: Clinton voted both times against the federal abortion procedures ban; the Supreme Court has upheld the constitutionality of that ban because of Alito’s confirmation.

Young Women’s Access: Clinton opposed a bill that would have made sisters, aunts, grandmothers, counselors, religious advisors — indeed anyone who assists a minor in crossing the state line for an abortion without parental consent — a felon. She actively campaigned against requiring parental notification for teen abortion, saying it would “put our most vulnerable teens at risk — teens who may already be endangered by negligent or even abusive homes.”

Barack Obama:

Obama refuses to stand up for a woman’s right to choose and repeatedly voted `present’ on important legislation. As a State Senator, Obama voted `present’ on seven abortion bills, including critical late term abortion procedure, two parental notification laws and three ‘born alive’ bills. Bonnie Grabenhofer, Pres. of Illinois NOW stated: “When we needed someone to take a stand, Senator Obama took a pass. He wasn’t there for us then and we don’t expect him to be now.”
