I had an office on the 36ht floor of the Empire BCBC building on 33rd St. for a few years, and while the sunsets over the refineries on the Jersey shore were often splendid, the year after Pinatubo they were often SPECTACULAR! Particles refract. A much older brother-in-law served in the Peace Corps in Addis Ababa for a few years, and I had a little copy of that flag. It's Haille Selassie's.
It is the flag of Ethiopia, Haille Selassie was the King of Ethiopia at one time.
And, the incumbent ruler of that line was always known as the Lion of Judah.
