  1. Daniel: Can you tell me about the book titled "Smoke Signals" by Martin A. Lee? Is the social history about accurate? I have not seen this book reviewed on this website. I would appreciate the perspectives of experts in public policy and in social history.

  2. Despite the sessions appointment, Trump seems to be leaning toward leaving cannabis up to the states. If that's the case, he is a clever devil.

    1. Trump doesn't lean toward anything. He says what pops into his head, and that may change from day to day, if not more frequently.

      1. Charles Blow's excellent column in today's NY Times makes me realize that Trump is more aware of what he is saying than I gave him credit for. Blow writes: "You don’t get a pat on the back for ratcheting down from rabid after exploiting that very radicalism to your advantage. Unrepentant opportunism belies a staggering lack of character and caring that can’t simply be vanquished from memory."
