 Why is there never an editor around when you really need one?

More Dowdification of politics from the New York Times, which once had journalistic standards. Now Dowd's Disease spread from the op-ed page to the pages formerly devoted to news. Mark Leibovich and Jeff Zeleny report on the Unity event:

Mr. Obama’s too-long blue tie went nicely with Mrs. Clinton’s blue pantsuit.

M-e-e-e-e-o-o-o-o-w-w-w!

Since Messrs. Leibovich and Zeleny seem to have more interest in fashion than in politics, how about transferring them to the fashion desk? But perhaps the fashion desk requires its reporters to actually know something about the subject matter of their stories, rather than allowing them to just dream up nasty wisecracks in place of solid information.
