"General Betray Us"Does Karl Rove have a mole planted in MoveOn?
Petraeus was vulnerable to the (true) charges that his statements were at odds with observable reality, and that he has inappropriately allowed himself to be come a partisan figure rather than an impartial professional soldier. He is not vulnerable to the (obviously false) charge that he has betrayed, or will betray, the country. Making the false charge helps the Republicans obscure the validity of the true charges.
Dumb, dumber, dumbest.
Update: ABC News has the hearing transcripts, along with reporting. Good news about the reporting: "Betray Us" doesn't get much play in the story. Bad news: Neither do the challenges to the accuracy of the general's statistics.
