Maybe thimerosal causes unemployment

In Mark's "McCain and thimerosal" I could substitute "Clinton and Obama" for "McCain," "NAFTA" for "thimerosal," and "job loss in Ohio" for "autism," and be pretty much done with a new post.
The important distinction, I'd guess, is that both Obama and Clinton know that they were pandering to Ohio and have some grasp of trade policy, whereas McCain hasn't the faintest familiarity with autism research [and one should hardly expect a presidential candidate to have any--better he should say "I have no idea"] and is indifferent to science.
