Kennedy: The next generationPoint taken from Mark on why Ted Kennedy’s endorsement has more influence (legitimately so) than most others’ do. But I maintain that there’s something unseemly about the attention paid to, and the implicit importance of, endorsements from other Kennedy family members. “Candidate X reminds me of my father (or uncle), more than candidate Y does” is not a judgment that should sway my decision on whom to vote for, even if I think very highly of the father. And, for all their public service and good character, that’s what the n+1st-generation endorsements amount to. They're entitled to their opinion as much as anyone else, but not a lot more so.
