Nixon on Fred Thompson: Not too smart, but friendly

Back when Ol' Fred was the carrying water for the White House on the Watergate Committee:
Mr. Buzhardt: We’ve got a pretty good rapport with Fred Thompson …Mr. Nixon: He isn’t – he isn’t very smart, is he?
Mr. Buzhardt: …Not extremely so, but –
Mr. Nixon: But he’s friendly.
Mr. Buzhardt: But he’s friendly.
