At the upper right of posts on RBC are category indicators (e.g., “Election 2012”, “Personal Moment” and in this case “Blogging”). Until recently, all the RBC post categories were listed on the left side of the website. We noticed recently that less than 1% of readers were clicking on that list, so we have moved it behind the front page hyperlink “browse by category”. As always, you can also search in a particular category of a post by clicking on it directly.
This change freed up some space on the front page, which we have filled with books by RBC bloggers. If I say it myself, this is more pleasing to the eye than the looong category list we had before. We put the one by Andy Sabl at the top because the visual of Rev. Dr. King is so arresting.
The bottom of the webpage has also been rectangularized (if that is a word) — previously the categories would run past the text of the last post and would cause a bit of a mess on some viewing platforms if you scrolled down far enough.
All of this work as well as some other technical fixes was done by the inestimable Steven Davenport. On behalf of everyone at RBC I thank Steven for his hard work.
