Thank you, Sarah Palin

September 14, 2010 By Mark Kleiman @markarkleiman

We really need that Delaware Senate seat, and I think you just handed it to us.

It’s really nice to see Republicans feuding like … well, like Democrats.

In the meantime, betting against the former half-term governor to be the GOP nominee for 2012 now seems like a foolhardy move. Barack Obama has always lucked out in having opponents self-destruct. Whether that’s because he’s on a special mission from God or made a deal with Satan, it might turn out to be good for one more round.

Isn't DeMint the kingmaker? I mean, Palin's candidate is losing in NH, and DeMint's is winning.

Or maybe it's something else going on.

I think you need to save some of those thanks for the NRSC: Sure, the polls say O'Donnell has little chance of winning the general election, but they said she had little chance of winning the primary, too, Which should make those polls look at least a little dubious. It's the NRSC's decision to cut her off at the knees that will really cement this victory for you, if they don't back down. As well as generating a lot more anger towards the GOP establishment among the tea partiers.

I foresee a lot of recriminations this fall, as the party establishment blames the tea party for lost seats that could have been won, and the tea party blames the Republican establishment for writing off races where tea party candidates won the primaries.

Personally, I think the Obama's obsession with bipartisanship is based on the fact that he is on a mission from both God and Satan. Support from either God or Satan alone can't explain his luck. I'm sure those metaphysical fellows have their disagreements, but I think that Dick Cheney got to be too much for Satan. Even the Father of Lies has his limits.
