I can’t meditate on symmetry after looking in the mirror without thinking about fixed points . I think this is due to pictures in a Time Life Science Library book on Mathematics I recall from childhood.

I think I had that same book! Yes, it distorts the brain.

So are the European bloggers here (O’Hare, I think I’m looking @ you) prepped for Feb 1st (010202010) since that will be a palindrome in their sick, twisted notation?

The sensible way to write the date – the one that sorts properly – is 20100102. Which is just as palindromic as the weird American system used in the post (01022010).
