Everyone who has ever flown USAir knows that it’s really called “Useless Air.” But only the old-timers know that USAIR is actually an acronym for “Unfortunately, Still Allegheny In Reality.”
I merely had a 9:25 flight delayed to sometime after 11pm. That’s not so bad. The poor lady traveling with her daughter who was in the security line ahead of me was trying to fly from New York to Buffalo, had her flight cancelled, and was put on a flight to Boston instead. Yes, Boston is about twice as far from Buffalo as NYC is, but apparently there’s a flight to Buffalo from Boston tomorrow but not from New York. And USAir told her that she’d have to pay for her own hotel room for tonight. Now that’s the Allegheny I remember!
