Amar Bakshi’s vignette of how the Democratic Party organization in Ohio County (Wheeling) West Virginia came to terms with the Obama campaign — focused on 88-year-old party workhorse Waneta Acker — reads like the scenario for a soppy movie about an aging bigot won over by goodwill (and, in this case, competence).
It’s a superb piece of depth reporting, and heartwarming as all get-out.
On behalf of everyone who said “Just nominating Barack Obama for President will move the process of racial healing forward” I hereby count one “I told you so” point.
