Yes, I know the polls are back to a slight McCain lead. But I still say McCain is terrified at what he’s wrought. Let’s both laugh at and circulate the following, and be glad of where they’re from:

Cartoon from Cleveland

Cartoon from Roanoke

Cartoon from Dayton

Blog from Dayton

Blog from Roanoke

Editorial from Tampa

Editorial from Miami

These were not hard to find (less than ten minutes) and not cherry-picked: I googled all the newspapers in these states that I could think of in thirty seconds and chose the relevant campaign commentary from today (September 11). I saw no pro-McCain opinions in the bunch, and only a little Broderism.

McCain’s antics (a word worth using, actually: he’s rendered his own campaign not evil but ridiculous) can’t fool everyone. Soon they won’t fool anyone. When it comes to panic, let’s say, with the main guy, “enough.”

[Apologies for any expired links. All these are from September 11 and can probably be recaptured with a search.]
