Obama broke the million-contributor mark Wednesday, and kept right on moving. At this posting, the count is almost at 1,010,000. That means that, in the 24 hours after the debate, the campaign picked up new contributors at the rate of about 1,000 per hour. Two million by Election Day seems well within reach, and three million not impossible.

I’m a little puzzled at the lack of press coverage. Of course a numerical milestone isn’t really news, but Obama has pulled off an astonishing feat, one that may change the nature of campaigning from here on out.
