Mark observes that because the statute of limitations for obstruction of justice lasts past next January, “we may yet see Karl Rove behind bars.”
I would remind my co-blogger that Article II, Section 2 of the United States Constitution gives the President the power “to grant Pardons . . . for Offenses against the United States.” I would be willing to make a decent wager that Rove will receive one.
What about state Offenses? Well, the Governor of Alabama also has the pardon power. And the current governor of Alabama is one Robert Riley, who was also in on the plot to destroy Siegelman.
Whatever else you might say about them, these guys cover their tracks fairly well.
