A colleague approaches me in the cafeteria today. I noticed that he has shaved–for the first time in a while.
“Congratulations,” I remark. “Usually you have three days growth of beard on you. I never thought that you wanted to have the Arafat look.”
This is from an old edition of the Israeli cartoon Dry Bones, which once wondered how Arafat could always seem to have three days growth of beard on him: “Does he have a defective razor? Does he only go out in public every third day? How does Yasser do it?” the cartoon asked.
“Funny,” my colleague answered. “I always associated the 3 days’ growth look not with Yasser Arafat but with Ryan Seacrest.”
This is the only time in recorded history that “Yasser Arafat” and “Ryan Seacrest” have been mentioned in the same sentence.
