It’s taken me a long time, and it’s probably too late now, but I think I’ve come up with the appropriate label for the scandal surrounding the firing of eight U.S. Attorneys on December 7, 2006. Since that is surely a day that will live in infamy, and since the firings were deliberately carried out as a surprise attack with no advance warning to the victims, I propose that we all refer to the event as the Pearl Harbor Day Massacre.
