What do Don Imus and Rush Limbaugh have in common?
They’re still on the air, inexcusably. The media companies that continue to enable them (including MS-NBC for Imus and ClearChannel for Limbaugh) ought to be severely criticized, and they and the sponsors of those shows should be boycotted where practical. Lie down with dogs, get up with fleas.
And the Republican politicians who act like dittoheads on Limbaugh’s program — Dick Cheney, in particular — ought to be asked why, and asked again and again and again. There is simply no comparable Democratic figure: no one nearly as vicious has nearly as great an audience or nearly as much support from those in power.
