Apparently Sheryl Gay Stolberg of the New York Times has decided to moonlight as Lindsey Graham’s press secretary. She writes an article lionizing him as the great defender of justice for Guantanamo detainees without revealing that he authored the bill to suspend their habeas corpus rights. Actually, it’s worse than that: she reports Graham as offering a “bipartisan compromise” giving them “limited rights of appeal in federal court” without noting that such a “compromise” was necessary because of Graham’s efforts to take ALL of their rights away.

Maybe she’s also getting paid by McCain, who similarly voted to cut off detainees’ access to the courts.

Is it asking too much to request that reporters actually know something about the subject they are writing about? Wait, don’t answer that…
