Rashid Khalidi, the Edward Said Professor of Arab Studies at Columbia, has signed the petition denouncing the boycott of two Israeli Universities called for by a resolution of the UK”s Association of University Teachers. (Prof. Khalidi is listed as signatory #2670; the signature-verification system seemed workably tight to me when I went through it.)
The unanimity on this issue has been overwhelming, heartening, and just a little surprising.
A reader points out that, in advance of the AUT re-vote on the boycott resolution, it would be helpful to reach out to any friends you have in the British academic world.
Update Prof. Khalidi has not signed the petition – the signature was a hoax — but does oppose the boycott.
