The biggest political victims of the fiasco in Iraq are the liberal hawks. (Of course, our soldiers, and Iraq’s, and Iraqi civilians took a much harder hit.) It’s only by the luck of timing that we have a relatively hawkish candidate. Steve Teles offers a partial defense of the pro-war position, and says that candidate needs to turn both barrels on Mr. Bush, who doesn’t believe that America can win the war on terror.
Note that the right-bloggers who are bashing Kerry, as they bashed Wes Clark, may yet bring about the fulfilment of their own wish/fear fantasy and convert the Democrats (back) into an irrresponsibly anti-military party.
