Tim Noah has the latest prevarication from Rep. Nick Smith about whether he was or was not offered a bribe by the House Republican leadership to vote for the Medicare bill. I certainly hope Mr. Smith gets a chance to tell his story or stories to a grand jury.
And, speaking of prevarications, it appears that the bill that President Bush promised wouldn’t encourage companies to drop their own prescription-drug coverage for retirees would in fact offer them big tax breaks even if they did precisely that.
